Santa Afghan part 4

Hi! I completed the Santa with sleigh section of the Santa Afghan this evening.  I did change the sign which read petrol  to read Gas.  Now on to the part, which I put the little pic in corner, of the world with presents floating under it.   And I was thinking too, although I have still a few more sections to do, how shall i back this cute afghan.   What ideas do you have my friends?  I was thinking maybe some fleece, or flannelette? hmmm  ?   Well, anytway, still cold here until Saturday, Chinook  winds bringing in a supposed 11c. That would be so lovely! Could open windows and let the winter dust blow out.  lol!( Tonight is -27c with the windchill!  brrrrr  )    Happy Stitching everyone!! :)

Finished Little House Needleworks

Today I completed Little House Needleworks design - Sleigh Bells Ring.  I did use the DMC conversion on this but for the brown 433 I used 433, 434, and 435 blending them to make the variegated look.  It was fun and I like how it worked.  I'm going to finish it with some red plaid fabric and twine to hang, but not right away.  Busy Stitching WIPs! :)   Hope you are all having a great week!!  :)

2014 Start!!!

This is my first stitch for 2014.  It's actually one I started in November, but didn't get anywhere near completing.   And since 2014 is a year of completing started projects it will be my first one finished, I Hope!!  :)   Its been just green, and more green, but as you can see the design makes the letters pop.  I have stitched it on linen though, rather than the paper that came with the kit.   Will find some other things to stitch with the extra Mill Hill paper I guess.   Happy Stitching everyone!!  I hope you fulfil all your stitchings ideas and dreams!!!  :)    PS:   Check out Zinio Canada for digital purchase of cross stitch magazines.  They have a few and I love the new Cute Cross Stitch magazine!!   :)

Snow, Stitch, Snow!!!

Well, all, the weather man is predicting snow for the weekend.  It will be a good weekend for me to clean up home a bit and then stitch for some time.   I now have my new fireplace in my living room, albeit an electric one, but I love the cozy feeling it gives and also heat if I need. Thanks to my best friend and to my son who helped me get it all set up!! The chair wont be in front of it soon, as all my furniture is moved around.  Later on, I shall be buying tall shelves for either side of the fireplace.  So many books right now and no place to put them.. :)  I visited with nephew, his wife and their son today along with my son and his girlfriend and it was a very lovely day.  It was a nice relaxed visit. Thanks for coming to visit!  Wish I could see you much more.
Well, I hope you all have a great stitchy weekend and stay warm and cozy too!!!  :)

Beautiful Autumn Day!!

Two blocks from my place is the beautiful Bow River.  I love living beside a park as it really allows me to live within the inner city, but still enjoy lots of nature.   We sometimes see coyotes, and a deer or two, many birds.  Love the hawks flying over!  They love to hunt the mice in the field.

Well, I did stitch over the IHSW weekend and I got quite a bit done on the Lizzie Kate 'Snow House', and then completed the 'Merry Christmas' design from Lizzie Kate Tiny Tidings XVII.

I received in the mail, on Friday, the Trimming the Tree Margaret Sherry Design that I bought from ebay.  It is pages from the Cross Stitcher Christmas 2007  mag, all the way from Ireland.  lol   I hope to work on that soon too, but I do have a couple of other MS designs that I'm right in the middle of, the Puppy Love and another one for an exchange.  Also calling me are HAED Candy Rush, and the Cross Stitcher Calendar designs.   I also completed a Somebunny design for the centre of a baby quilt, but cannot show you that until it is received. :)  Wish me luck!! I wish all of you Happy Stitching too.   'See' you later!!  :)

Autumn colours!

Hi everyone!  Happy Autumn!  The beautiful colours are showing everywhere now!   This is a pic from my balcony.  The balcony is bare because of the construction on the building,    I am hoping this weekend will be a productive one in the stitching department as I have one required piece to be finished and then I am able to start on more Christmas items!!   This always cheers me and I cannot tell you exactly why, maybe the feelings of the holidays, maybe the colours of the threads, or just being able to share something I love to do with others!!   :)     Happy Thanksgiving , Happy Columbus Day too,,,     :)

A Taste of Stitching !

Hi everyone.   The month is flying by, and next week is October.  Wow!  Makes me think of busy stitching for a while, With holidays speeding up!!  lol    I have  been having fun with a couple of exchanges this past month and also a few Christmas items.   One is an RR, which I will show you my part of it below, as the next stitcher in Australia has now received it.  Also I stitched a little surprise for a friend.  She is a grandmother to the cutest little 2 year old granddaughter.  I stitched it for her granddaughter to give to her.  I have to admit that I wish I could have stitched this for my own grandmother.  :)  Below is the basic finish of that design.  It is called 'Grandmother Glitters" in the Stoney Creek Cross Stitch Collection magazine issue #25.   I did change the beads in the design from the Mill Hill Magnifica beads 10016 to ones I had on hand which are Mill Hill 62012.  I think they replace the original quite well.     It was quite simple to stitch the design,  just a little bit careful counting on the 28 ct natural linen.

I have also been stitching a few other Christmas ornaments which are gifts, so hope I remember to show you after the holidays!  :)

To update the work being done on all apartments in my building, it's coming along, slowly but well. The exterior of the building is all yellow boards and the bricks are not placed on the balcony walls yet.   I suspect that some people want it to happen in a week, but that is impossible with what they are doing on such a large building.  (I should remember to take a picture for you..) In about a week or so, the new balcony door will be installed in my living room, and that will be completely finished with trim and such within a few days after that.   Then in about 3 weeks after that, they will be installing my dining room, and two bedrooms windows.   So as you can see, as I packed everything more than a month ago, within three to four feet of those windows, my apartment is a shabbles, with boxes everywhere in corners and such.   lol   But with changes comes also a chance to make changes of positioning my furniture so that is what I am planning.   It's actually been fun.  Looking at different ideas for layout, and also thinking of maybe redecorating a little.   :)

So all in all, even though I haven't been here most days to post, and been somewhat neglectful in perusing others blogs and great stitching, I have been busy in my little stitching corner!!   :)   Happy Stitching to everyone!!  And also a very Happy Autumn... Hope its a nice one!  :)
